The wave of popular hostility towards teachers and students that seems to be pouring out in the wake of events in Wisconsin and elsewhere is pretty remarkable. Lots of people — not everyone, but many highly vocal people — seem to harbor tremendous resentment and scorn for the educational system, however much they might pay lip service to the standard pieties about it. Politicians, mostly leftist, socialist, and Marxist-Union sympathizers, have succeeded in milking this resentment to great advantage for the purpose of collectivism, anti-individualism, and elitist crony-ism that exists in the current education paradigm. I don’t understand this phenomenon, frankly. Why the suspicion and anger? After all, isn’t this supposed to be about the children?. It cannot really be about retirement pensions—teachers get far more in this regard than just about any other profession and it is financed by many who have NO retirement pensions and make less money. http://amplify.com/u/bt8pa
